Kansas City photographer David Morris is nationally known for his exceptional food and advertising photography, lighting and image design. The advertising and food studio's approach is one of simplicity in choice of elements, design and use of light. The clearest and most effective solution for Food photography involves a painstaking selection of the finest food ingredients, carefully designed with a sense of balance and sculpted with a beautiful sensitive light. Photographer and communicator David Morris is nationally recognized for his outstanding storytelling and signature lighting for portrait images. David's sense of design, passion for detail and capacity to communicate though his images has resulted in his midwest advertising studio being selected to work on a number of major photographic projects for leading midwest and international companies. For over 19 years, David's specialized experience in food, people and product photography has landed many long-term clients both locally and nationally. His dedication to precision has produced award-winning, quality work displayed in numerous national ad campaigns, billboards, product packaging, books and magazines as seen in our portfolio and client list.
David is always looking for new ways to express his creativity. His new photographic style "Urban Grit" is a great representation of the many layers which encompass David's personality and talent. This style shows a raw yet almost surreal vision, capturing ordinary people in an extraordinary way. His ability to see and understand his own creative vision, compliments his ability to work as a team with art directors on the most complex concepts.
Communicating messages across a variety of planes is one of many strengths David brings to a photoshoot. A keen understanding of his craft, both technically and artistically, enables David to combine aspects of style and lighting to enhance communication and draw attention to each product.
From conception to print, we take the time to understand a company's identity and core value of their product. Our midwest studio has mastered a form of communication through the lens and successfully represents our clients brands in their market place.
Our work is about solving problems, quality, service and valued relationships. We are very happy to be re-located back in the downtown Crossroads Arts district at 2131 Washington Street, Studio 2131!
ABOUT US
David Morris is the kind of photographer you love to discover. Nationally known for his exceptional images, you've seen David's work in countless national ad campaigns, billboards, product packages, books and magazines. His work has won numerous national awards and has been featured in the prestigious Communications Arts magazine.
David's two greatest strengths are his storytelling ability and his gentle soul.
As a storyteller, David weaves his tales with light and design. His images include just enough to draw you in. But the real magic is that he leaves out just enough to intrigue you to linger on the image a bit longer.
With his gentle soul, David tames the wildest of child models and the crankiest of clients. Models seem to forget where they are when David is around . The result is a photo that captures a kind of honesty that is rarely seen on film. Clients quickly find themselves in the midst of a collaboration, not in the middle of a battle of wills. Not only do the photos come out better this way, the process of making them is actually, well fun. That probably explains why virtually all of David's first-time clients end up returning again and again
STAFF
Paula Morris — Production Coordinator
With a degree in Industrial Graphic Art, Paula brings over 20 years of photo and printing experience to the studio. She provides a full array of services including, but definitely not limited to, retouching, color correction/management, CMYK printing and file management. She is our production guru on and off the set and a key part of our team.
Cara Dunsmoor-Marketing Coordinator
Cara Dunsmoor-Marketing Coordinator Cara has joined the DMP team toting a wide range of experiences and skills. Her previous work in Public Relations and Marketing has spanned from worldwide corporate to small non-profit and is now allowing her to step into the creative community and mix her love of people with her love for ingenuity and art. A 2004 graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo, Cara holds a degree in Mass Communications as well as a minor in Spanish. The Colorado native has no problem letting her roots show. She enjoys anything outdoors and extreme and can easily be found boarding the backcountry snow or dangling from some freakishly tall cliff. Two of her greatest weaknesses are:
- Good thunderstorms, and
- The resulting mud.
Some people dream of a Mercedes, Cara dreams of a Jeep.
